History (detailed)

Mahiwa was born in a tucked away corner of Sui no Sato to a young couple who came to realize they were not ready to care for a child. At a loss for what to do, they contacted old friends. At the age of 4, Mahiwa was quietly and tenderly snuck out of Sui no Sato to Hingashi, where Ms. and Mr. Cinshi received her, before taking her back to Gridania.Mahiwa was then raised in the Shroud forests of Gridania alongside her younger brothers (also adopted), Soro'a and Tomor. Though her upbringing was by no means destitute, things were tough at times. Her parents were oft spread thin, and responsibilities all too often fell upon Mahiwa. This only worsened when she turned 18 and her mom passed away. Her father was too grief stricken to hold up the family, and suddenly Mahiwa's shoulders were heavy with her duty to her family.Eventually, seeking to offer aid to suffering Gridanians around her (and possibly seeking an escape from her home life), Mahiwa joined the order of the Twin Adders. She threw herself at training wholly until she was a fairly capable warrior in her own right, but... as the years passed, she became emotionally distant from her family, and almost entirely focused on her work. She was slowly shutting down, and it even cost her a relationship with her then-girlfriend, Crane.Then, everything changed at Carteneau.

--------------------- ARR --------------------Mahiwa was there as a part of the Eorzean alliance when Louisioux made his sacrifice, and for some reason, she was one of the people he saved (she would learn later it was at Crane's behest). For five years she gets lost to time... until one day she is found washed up on a Limsan shore. Some pirates had brought her to safety and asked about her condition, but her memory was hazy. For a short time, she decided to stay in Limsa Lominsa until she understood what's going on.Blissful ignorance can't last forever, though. It comes back to her in pieces that she has a family, that she's been gone for 5 years, and worst of all- that she's getting random, excruciating migraines that are accompanied by flashes of... dreams? That she doesn't understand.It's here she meets Y'shtola, and the events of our narrative begin to unfold. Mahiwa learns she now has an echo- and hers gives her incredible powers to fight harder, stronger, and more miraculously than she ever could before Carteneau. However, it comes at a cost. Mahiwa quickly finds she can easily lose control of herself while calling upon her echo. It's like the warrior's inner beast, but intensified, amplified. Her power is fiercesome, but too much so- she has to be careful. But careful she is, and Mahiwa is exhilarated to wield her newfound power to make a difference helping the scions alongside some of the other warriors of light they've recruited thus far; namely a plucky miqo'te named W'ruki'a and a xaela by the name of Khai.Over the events of chasing down Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan Mahiwa begins to bond with the scions a little... but most especially Y'shtola. The two are mutually impressed by each other's wit and dedication, and of course, find the other quite attractive. Before ere long, they find themselves tangled in each other's bedrolls. "It's nothing very serious," Mahiwa promises Y'shtola, who doesn't mind. "Just fooling around." They agree.For the most part, though, she makes little effort to befriend the other WOLs... until Lahabrea. Here, W'ruki'a is stricken with fear, being already attached to the scion Thancred. Mahiwa feels some twinge of pain for him, and reaches out, offering assurance: They will get Thancred back. Here, her lifelong friendship with W'ruki'a begins.-------------------- ARR patches --------------------The successful return of Thancred is a major cause of celebration. In the coming months, Mahiwa spends time doing odd jobs and flirting with Y'shtola. It's during this time she meets another WOL, Holt. Not long after, she reconvenes with the doman refugee Yugiri Mistwalker, and comes out of the experience with a new retainer; recent refugee Mide Ejinn.Mahiwa also meets and quickly befriends the beloved Moenbryda... and thus losing her hits all too hard, no matter how briefly they'd known each other.
